So let’s talk social media content strategy…

What’s that? You don’t have one?

Ok, ok, ok. Let’s be real, MOST people and businesses don’t have a strategy for their social media no matter how many times they’ve been told they should have one. Usually it comes down to an excuse something along the lines of:

“I really don’t have time for building social media content on top of my work”

Or maybe… “But I’m a really crap photographer and have no design skills”

Possibly even: “Creating content is expensive, I’ll just retweet some other cool people whenever I think about it”

Well, let’s both stop kidding ourselves that you’ll get around to it someday and talk honestly for a minute: Yeah generating content sucks – but there isn’t any alternative.

Creating and publishing content is still one of the best ways to be found online and boost your website rankings in the search engine results.

And yeah, it takes time. But the difference between generating good content and so-so content could mean the difference between your next website visitor booking an appointment with you or the next guy in the search results.

So what are you going to do about it?

Well, that’s the part that I’m going to help with today. Generating the content is the hard part, sharing it is easy. So I wanted to share some of my favorite tools that I use just about every day to build my business and shave HOURS off my content creation times.

By using some of these free tools that I’m about to share with you, you will be able to create content that looks like it was designed by a pro for free!

So without further ado:

Our Free Content Tools to Supercharge Your Marketing

1) Canva

Build graphics that look like they came straight from the designer in a simple and easy to use drag and drop editor. It’s online too so no software to install! Just load the page, click which kind of template you want (They have thousands!) or start with a blank canvas, and then export it when ready in whatever dimensions you need for social media or the web.

2) Pixabay

FREE stock images. Nuff said.
Ok, so maybe that isn’t enough. Pixabay is a massive image library of royalty-free images that you can use for commercial or non-commercial uses as much as you want. This is the image library from where we get most of our social media and blog images from. Take a look here and see what you can find then throw it into Canva and make some magic happen!

3) Hyperlapse

Hyperlapse is a pretty freakin’ awesome tool build by Instagram and designed for making time-lapse videos with an incredible video stabilization software baked in. But as it turns out, Hyperlapse can be used to shoot in real-time as well so you can make free videos on your phone that look like they were shot on a camera rig that you’d have to mortgage your first-born to afford.

4) VSCO Cam

If you want to get into the Instagram game but can’t quite figure out how the top ‘grammers always seem to have such amazing images, well here’s the secret: They don’t actually shoot in the Instagram app! VSCO is a free app that lets you edit the images with the same kind of granularity that you’d get in an on-computer photo editing software. So snap until you get the shot you love, then edit it here to really make the colors pop!

5) Hootsuite

Not sure how to keep the content rolling out all the time and still have time for a life and business? Hootsuite is the software that gives you your time back in the day. You can connect all your social media profiles, pre-compose the posts that you want to go out on which networks, and then pre-schedule them to go live. Hootsuite will take care of the rest and make sure that the posts go to the right networks at the right time. No more scrambling to drop your work to make sure that a post goes out, or forgetting about posting entirely. Now you can go about your business and life and never worry about social media again.

6) Fiverr
